Looks can be deceiving

I bought some Katakana flashcards today, and memorised all 46. I also bought what I thought was some Persil in the supermarket to do some laundry. This means that the first word I ever deciphered in Japanese is actually a type of detergent. And, in fact, to my surprise I read that it wasn't Persil I'd bought, but Arial. The symbols read, roughly.
  • Ay as in say
  • Re as in real
  • E as in egg, but with a long e
  • Ru as in kangaroo
